The Keene Sentinel Selects Brainworks Classified

After an exhaustive selection process involving multiple vendors, The Keene Sentinel picks Brainworks to supply their next generation classified advertising and web publishing tools.

Sayville, Long Island, January, 2008 – Brainworks Software, the leading provider of newspaper advertising and circulation systems for North America has announced the signing of a contract for a nine user integrated classified advertising system to The Keene Sentinel. The Keene Sentinel will implement a complete Brainworks classified advertising system including web ad order entry, web publishing, a new on-line auction site, and interfaces to numerous third party systems.
“We interviewed and entertained several different vendors. The only one who interviewed us before they arrived was Brainworks. From pre-presentation through negotiations I felt that Brainworks definitely set themselves apart from the others by exhibiting sincere interest in meeting our needs whether it required development of new technology or simply just a phone call to provide answers to questions,” said Ellen Avignone, New Media Director for the Keene Sentinel.
John Barry, President of Brainworks Software added; “The Keene Sentinel is an exciting, energized organization. Led by their determined and community oriented publisher and his group of handpicked managers, they are transforming their organization through innovation and an intense focus. They recognized the importance of choosing vendors that matched their creativity and drive. For this reason, we at Brainworks are particularly pleased to have been selected for such an important role within The Keene Sentinel - helping to drive advertising revenues upward.”
“As we evaluated our options it became very clear that Brainworks was the one system and the one vendor partner that we could count on to not only give us an improved software system, but also help us redesign our workflow so that we could become a more efficient and profitable organization”, said Linda Driscoll, Classified Advertising Manager/Supervisor.
Founded in 1799, The Keene Sentinel is the fifth oldest continuously published newspaper in the United States. In 2004, the paper reported a daily circulation of about 14,000.
“It is extremely gratifying to realize that The Keene Sentinel selected Brainworks on the basis of our hard work during the selection process, as well as Brainworks’ products themselves,” said Jeff Kimmel, Brainworks’ Business Development Manager. “We look forward to demonstrating that same level of effort throughout the project and beyond.”

Products include fully integrated classified and display advertising, circulation, billing, accounts receivable, contract and credit management, classified pagination, ROP ad layout, editorial and editorial pagination, and a state-of-the art Sales Force Automation system supporting Web and Palm OS platforms.
