American Consolidated Media selects Brainworks for next generation advertising solution

ACM is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a publicly-traded media company with holdings that include 104 newspapers in ten states throughout the Midwest, Atlantic and Southwestern United States.

Sayville, Long Island, February, 2008 – Brainworks Software, the leading provider of newspaper advertising and circulation systems announced the signing of a contract for a 20 user extension to the existing Brainworks integrated advertising system at ACM Chesapeake (formerly Chesapeake Publishing Co.).

American Consolidated Media traces its roots to its founding in 1998 by Jeremy L. Halbreich, former president and general manager of The Dallas Morning News. The company was acquired in 2007 by Macquarie Media Group, a Sydney, Australia based, publicly-traded company with holdings in regional radio and television in Australia, cable systems in Taiwan and community newspapers in the U.S. and ACM has since acquired additional newspapers including 19 newspapers from Superior Publishing Co., 11 newspapers from Brown Publishing and most recently 22 publications from Chesapeake Publishing Co. ACM now owns and operates 104 local community newspapers and related print publications in ten states including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

With its acquisition of Chesapeake Publishing Co. – a current Brainworks customer - American Consolidated Media is currently in the early stages of converting to a series of integrated operating systems to support its multi-clustered geographic structure. This particular step involves extending the Chesapeake system and its capabilities to the publications acquired from Brown Publishing in southeast Ohio and to the ACM publications located in Oklahoma and Kansas. “Providing users with standardized toolsets and the flexibility to maintain their local identity and allowing management instant access to all financial and sales data will be a major benefit to their organization”, stated Rick Sanders, Brainworks Business Development Manager.

John Barry, President of Brainworks Software added; “American Consolidated Media is an aggressive and dynamic organization. Led by ACM Chairman, President & CEO Jeremy Halbreich, and Executive VP & COO, Rick Starks, they are transforming their organization through innovation and an intense focus on profitability. They recognize the importance of choosing vendors that can match their creativity and drive in increasing revenues and driving down costs. Brainworks is particularly pleased to have been selected for such an important and ongoing role in ACM’s efforts to grow their business.”
