Sayville, Long Island, July, 2006 – Brainworks Software, the leading provider of newspaper advertising and circulation systems for North America has announced the contract for a seventy-three user classified advertising system to The Honolulu Advertiser, as well as several related weekly newspaper groups. The Advertiser will implement a complete Brainworks classified advertising system including web ad order entry, web publishing, classified pagination, data mining and interfaces to third party systems including the Gannett G2 billing system.
"The Advertiser is engaged in a highly competitive market and needed a software vendor that could partner with us to effectively service our customers and increase our revenues", said Jeff Green, Senior Vice President of Advertising and Marketing. "Brainworks convinced us that they understood our needs and that their classified system would provide us with a superior return on investment."
“It was our objective to find a software company that could provide us with a classified advertising system with state-of-the-art technology and at the same time work with our existing production and financial systems, said Roger Forness, Vice President of Technology. “Brainworks has worked extremely hard to ensure that their system will fully integrate with our critical systems, including the Gannett G2 billing system.”
According to Amy Kunz, Controller for the Advertiser, “We reviewed several classified vendors and Brainworks was the most flexible and focused on how they could help us build our classified business. The Brainworks team reviewed revenue opportunities as well as operational efficiencies and made suggestions on how we could accelerate our business. We are excited to be a part of the Brainworks team and look forward to achieving the results we anticipate.”
The paper, which is owned by Gannett Co., Inc., publishes The Honolulu Advertiser with a daily circulation of 142,000 as well as a number of smaller weekly papers. The installation is already underway and is planned to complete this fall. Brainworks is replacing a CText classified system. This is the second Gannett site with a Brainworks classified system.
“The Honolulu Advertiser is an extremely innovative newspaper that is engaged in a highly competitive market. As such, they need to be lean in operations and yet be responsive to their advertiser base. They needed a vendor who could provide system support in both areas well. We are excited to be their vendor – and their partner - as they continue their tradition of service to their customers,” stated John Barry, President of Brainworks.
Brainworks software has been installed at over 800 North American newspapers over the past 25 years. Products include fully integrated classified and display advertising, circulation, billing, accounts receivable, contract and credit management, classified pagination, ROP ad layout, editorial and editorial pagination, and a state-of-the art Sales Force Automation system supporting Web and Palm OS platforms.
Brainworks customers include individual newspapers as well as publishing companies, which incorporate multiple products and divisions into a single database. Brainworks Software maintains offices in Sayville, NY and Wichita, KS.
